Final Animation

This is my final animation. I stuck to the apple idea because I thought it would work really well. I chose photographs because i think personally I work better with them than drawing and with the cakes etc I wanted them to look delicious and photographs seemed the best way to show this. I changed my mind about the stickers on the cakes because they didn't stick to the cases and didn't look realistic! I also added 'Haha's' and question marks to parts of my animation, to make it less boring and easier to understand. I am really happy with my final outcome and have enjoyed trying animation for the first time. After effects was tricky to start off with!

Tests

All of these tests were me trying out the software and having a play. The first one was rubbish because i didn't know how to make the music shorter or how to crop the animation time. The 2nd Gets better but its only a few seconds! The third i'm pleased with but it took ages to do !

Storyboard

Cupcakes vs Apple.
(scanner found it hard to pick up drawings so some are different sizes)
Basic Story
Theres a shelf of cupcakes all pretty and attractive to customers, but there is also one apple. The apple is sad because its not getting picked. All the cupcakes laugh at him. Next the apple finds an empty cake case and jumps in - tricking the customers. The apple feels better and the cupcakes are shocked!

Separate Information : I'm going to use photographs in my actual animation because I feel i'll work best with them and it'll be clearer to see and easier to understand. whilst making the cakes look scrummy! On the Apple I plan to draw the face in Marker pen & on the cupcakes I plan to use stickers on them for faces!

My Theme

I’m in Group 2 for this project and my music makes me think of the 3words
Sneaky, Mischievous & delighted at some points during the track
I have come up with a few different ideas in my sketchbook, such as;
1) A sneaky snake going through the grass
2) Footprints on screen from a burglar
3) A magic show
4) Birds in a bird house
5) A jack in the box
6) Boats sailing
7) Sad princess kisses the frog
8) Abstract shapes
9) Confused abstract brain
AND
10) Cupcakes
I have chosen a Cupcake idea because I think its original and works the best with my 3 words. It’s a strange idea that came to me whilst I was hungry doing my work. But the more I’ve developed it the more I think it’ll work well with the music and pay off.

Below I’ve looked at youtube animations of cupcakes & different kinds of sweets/food for inspiration on colour and movement etc.




I really like this because i'm thinking photos will be appropriate for my animation and this works really well and looks as though they really are moving.

I chose this because of how the food was moving as people, looked very realistic!

General Animation Research

I've looked at different styles and types of animation and found some really interesting things. It amazes me how long it takes people to do this but how some of them, especially cartoons look so realistic!

1st Video) I thought this was really interesting how they painted all around the building in different designs and it really looks like the image is moving! Photographs and film really work well and keep it realistic.

2nd Video) I looked at this lego stop motion video after the workshop we had done with Matt, I found it really interesting, and it was great to find out how it was done. Professionals must take ages!

3rd & 4th Video) Animation from Disney films finding nemo and toy story 3. even the beginning PIXAR scene looks brilliant! This type of animation is extremely professional and takes a long long while with years of practice but it looks so realistic!

Research into Animation

Morph had to be added into the research because of how well known and loved this character was. The noises work so well with the clip and you connect with the characters.




I was really interested in how this was done. It looks great and quickly put together.
